A few things you need to know about the new Bates Motel TV series on A&E. The pilot was unbelievable. I didn't expect to like it so much. This is a must-see series. I think we're on to something great.

It's a Prequel to the movie Psycho by Hitchcock

So what is the Bates Motel TV series really about? When I saw the commercials I was wondering is this about the movie Psycho. Well, you're almost right. Bates Motel is set to be the prequel to the story Psycho, originally a novel by Robert Bloch turned into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock.

Remember that movie with the black and white shower scene of the woman in the short blonde hair screaming while Norman Bates surprisingly opens her shower curtains and gets to the stabbing? That's the one.

Norma Bates is hot

One of Bates Motel's main characters is Norman Bates's mom, Norma Bates, played by Vera Farmiga, and she's just plain hot. I thought the mom would've been played by some old granny, but this is not your typical soccer mom. You'll love watching her dementia.

Amazing Actors! Characters come alive

The actors are just plain amazing and I'm really critical of acting. Vera Farmiga, received an Academy Award nomination for best performance in her supporting role with Clooney in the movie "Up in the Air." In Bates Motel her performance is super captivating.

The same can be said for Freddie Highmore, who plays Norman Bates. He's just awesome. He depicts Norman's character perfectly. He's just the right amount of awkward, cool, weird, and mysterious all at the same time.

It's Creepy

Bates Motel is so creepy. I thought this was going to be some silly series about a mother and son in some old country town, but it's not just that LOL. It's pretty scary and creepy. It has its moments.

Look at the comparison Freddie Highmore has with Anthony Perkins of Pyscho:

Like a good movie, Great Pacing

How many TV series do you see feel like a movie. The pilot was shot so well. It really feels like you're sitting in the theatre watching a scary flick wondering what's going to happen next. The pacing is eery, the shots are beautiful and the actors are unbelievable.

Bates Motel is a punch in the face to a lot of dramas out there. We're getting into the realm of The Walking Dead here.
